These school holidays come and have some fun learning the creative and technical skills you need to make an engaging video that will capture your audience. 

Choose from our One Day Workshop or our Three Day Intensive option

THE WORKSHOPS

One Day Intro Course

Tuesday 1st October
9am-3pm

Plan, Film and Edit
your own short video

to take home. 

Learn the principles of storytelling
and what makes an engaging video.

Lots of time to practise the skills
and techniques that you learn. 

Make a video on a topic that interests you!

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL!!

Three Day Intensive Course

Tuesday 1st, Wednesday 2nd
& Thursday 3rd  October
9am-3pm

Plan, Film and Edit
your own videos

to take home. 

Learn the principles of storytelling
and what makes an engaging video.

Lots more time to practise the skills
and techniques that you learn. 

Make videos on topics that interest you!

DAY ONE:
Intro to Video Course + in-depth planning of a longer, or multiple videos. 

DAY TWO:
Filming Day!

DAY THREE:
Post-production Day!
(including editing and audio recording). 
Finishing with a ‘Premiere’ of your videos.

PAYMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS:
Book and pay by 19th September for the Early Bird Discount. after which time pricing will convert to our standard prices.
Standard price for the One Day Intro course is $79 per child.
Standard price for the Three Day Intensive course is $215 per child.
Siblings receive a 5% discount. 
Minimum numbers are required for the workshop to go ahead. 

WHAT TO BRING

Each student requires:

  • Smartphone or tablet capable of recording video
  • iMovie, Windows 10 video editor, or InShot (app)
  • Any props of interest students may want to use in their videos
  • A pen and notebook/paper
  • Morning tea, lunch and drink bottles

Siblings may share devices if they are happy to work together.

MEET YOUR TUTOR

Carrie Harman, Local Videographer

Local Video Maker Carrie Harman

After completing a Bachelor of Communication Studies in Television Production at AUT, Carrie honed her visual storytelling skills in production roles in New Zealand and the UK, from Suzy’s World to Sky TV and the National Geographic Channel.
Carrie is now the director of Red Feet Video, producing videos for local businesses.
 

FAQs

These workshops are aimed at 10-14 year olds, who have an interest in video making. Older students are welcome to attend if they wish to. 

The One Day Intro course is ideal for those who are new to video, or want to have an overview of the video making process. 

The Three Day Intensive course will give students a deeper understanding of the video making process and give them plenty of time to plan and create a quality video (or videos!).

Whichever course you choose students will have the opportunity to plan, film and edit a video. 

To book click one of the BOOK NOW! buttons, you will be taken to our event booking page on directly to the event booking. Ensure you select the correct workshop and ticket type. 

Once booked you will be sent an invoice by email. Payment is via bank deposit, within 3 days of booking. Bookings are only confirmed once payment is received. 

Once payment is received you will be sent a detailed information pack, including editing software requirements.

Drop off is available from 8:30am. 

Pick up must be by 3:30pm at the latest. Any parents picking up later than 3:30pm will incur additional charges.

There will be a mix of informative discussions and practical activities. Students can choose whether they work in groups or individually to create their videos. There will be plenty of time for students to practise the new skills they will learn, in a supportive and safe environment.

We will break for a morning tea and lunch. 

The workshops are being run by Carrie Harman, Director/Owner/Videographer of Red Feet Video Limited, a local business supporting other local businesses to use video.  Carrie loves sharing her knowledge to empowers others and believes in teaching our children and teens how to use their devices creatively and productively.

Carrie has many years experience teaching, from tutoring English to ESOL students and French to adult students at community night classes, to delivering workshops through local Playcentres and coaching small business owners in content and video creation. Carrie is also a mum to two primary aged children.
